In 1970 a terrifying volcano erupted in the Peruvian Andes
Mountains and it’s devastation destroyed 99% of the resort city of Huaraz
and killed over 26,000 people. A dear friend of mine who has been serving
on the Mission field for the past 30+ years was sharing with me the following
about how she remembered being lead to pray for Christians who might have been
spared from the devastation, the moment she heard the news. Not knowing at the
time, that very hour as she was praying, fifty Believers, led by Ester Morales
Huaraz were farther up the mountain holding a baptismal service and thus
escaped the disaster. She shared with me that for three days, those Believers
trudged step by step, without food or water, making their way back through the
tremendous rubble and debris to get back to Huaraz, where they courageously
ministered to and shared Hope in Jesus with those that were left and suffering.
Eight years later while being on staff at Mid-south Bible College
in Memphis, TN, who would have believed it….the Lord brought that very Ester
for whom my precious friend had prayed for to the same school to study that she
worked at. They became friends and have remained so through these years. This June
my friend who has been serving in some form of Missions on the foreign
field these many years, is headed to Peru to join Ester Morales and her husband
Donato to serve alongside them, loving on the Peruvian people as they continue a
great work that God started long ago. Would you
join with me to bring these dear friends before the Father in prayer for their
safety, health and support as they face daily debilitating obstacles of poverty
and terrorism. We serve a Mighty God and He waits for us to come to Him with
our request!
Loving you,
Bren
